February 3. Freestyle skiing. Ladies’ dual moguls.
1. Yuliya Galysheva (Kazakhstan)
2. Elizaveta Bezgodova (Russia)
3. Katharina Ramsauer (Austria)
Ladies’ dual moguls competitions have finishes. Yuliya Galysheva won the competition. The day before, she won the individual race.
Gloomy weather made the race difficult for the athletes. Luckily, the morning fog subsided and the visibility improved. The athletes did their best in such conditions.
8 athletes made it through the qualification round. The athletes competed against each other in pairs using the Olympic system.
Galysheva and Bezgodova easily passed through the qualification round taking the top two places. In the quarterfinal, they competed against other athletes. However, in the final round they met again. Galysheva was more confident on the slope and, thus, won the gold medal. Bezgodova came second. Katharina Ramsauer from Austria competed against her rival from Finland and succeeded in winning the bronze medal.
“The hill was quite challenging. My main rival was Bezgodova. She was in good shape and made me do my best. It is hard to win in any competition. I wouldn’t say this victory was different to any others. I am happy I became a three-time Universiade Champion,” said Galysheva.
